An EMROC Satellite: An Institution-Specific, Interdisciplinary Approach to Transcribing Early Modern manuscript Recipes, Abstract

In this essay we describe a satellite project at the University of York, UK, which grew out of the 2021 EMROC transcribathon. In our case study we show how the resources put together by EMROC (in partnership with the Folger and Wellcome Libraries) can be used in ad-hoc, remote, institution-specific transcribathons, outside of the regular EMROC calendar. We also offer suggestions on how these activities can help undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty from a shared home institution to learn together.
